Dear Friends and Colleagues,
On behalf of the University of Tsukuba, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support and cooperation with the Institute of Medicine, University of Tsukuba.
We are pleased to announce that funding from the University of Tsukuba has been secured for the continuation of the KIBI–Tsukuba Research Training Program, which has been ongoing since 2019. We would therefore like to begin recruiting students for the 2027 program.
Please find the attached poster and detailed information at the link below, and we would greatly appreciate it if you could share this information with your students and relevant faculties.

The purpose of this program is:
To provide master’s students from KIBI partner institutions with an opportunity to conduct research at the University of Tsukuba for one semester and encourage them to consider pursuing a doctoral degree at the University of Tsukuba.
To further promote collaborative research between KIBI partner institutions and the University of Tsukuba.
Support:
JASSO financial support is available for up to six months, providing a monthly stipend of 80,000 JPY for living expenses. Please note that accommodation fees (student dormitory), travel expenses, and other related costs must be covered by the students themselves. Additional financial support from KIBI partner institutions would therefore be greatly appreciated.
Program Period:
The program is scheduled to begin in February 2027, with a planned stay of 4–6 months.
Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants must intend to pursue a doctoral degree in the future.
Applicants must be enrolled as master’s students throughout the entire program period. Students who will graduate before the end of the program, or individuals currently employed as staff members, are not eligible.
Applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.2 out of 4.0 in either their most recent academic year or undergraduate studies.
Each KIBI partner institution is requested to conduct an internal selection process and nominate one student from each organization/faculty.
Although KIBI is a consortium in the field of biomedicine, nominations will be accepted from each organization/faculty within KIBI partner institutions (for example, Faculties of Medicine, Pharmacy, Medical Sciences, etc.). We would appreciate your assistance in sharing this information with other relevant faculties as well.
Application:
Selected students should apply through the website below and submit the following materials:
Academic transcripts
First-year master’s students: undergraduate academic transcript
Second-year master’s students: graduate school transcript to date and undergraduate transcript
English proficiency test scores (TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS, etc.)
